Paying for care

Paying for care, explained plainly.

What care costs, how families pay, and how long-term care insurance and VA benefits can help. No surprises, and no pressure.

What care costs

Most families pay $32 to $36 an hour.

Where your rate falls depends on the schedule, how many hours each week, and the kind of help involved. Care starts at 5 hours a week, and plans grow from there.

After a free consultation, you get an exact rate in writing before care begins, so you know what each week will cost.

Ways to pay

Care is private pay, so we do not bill Medicare or Medicaid. Many families pay directly, and many use the benefits below to help.

Long-term care insurance

If you have a policy, we help you use it.

Most policies pay the policyholder back after care is paid for. Your insurer decides what is covered, and we make the agency side of the claim easy.

1

Check the policy

Call your insurer and ask whether home care is covered, the daily or monthly benefit, the waiting period, and any rules about the caregiver or agency.

2

Open the claim

Insurers usually ask for a doctor's statement and an assessment of daily needs. We help with the plan of care they ask for.

3

We send the paperwork

Itemized monthly invoices, visit notes, our Ohio license, and our tax ID, plus help with the provider sections of claim forms.

4

You are paid back

Most policies have a waiting period of 30 to 90 days that is paid privately. After that, the policy reimburses you up to its benefit.

VA benefits

For veterans and surviving spouses.

VA Aid and Attendance is a monthly payment added to a VA pension for veterans and surviving spouses who need help with daily life, like bathing, dressing, or staying safe at home. The payment goes to your family, and you can use it to pay for care with Solura.

Applying takes a pension application and a medical examiner's form. Each county has a Veterans Service Commission that helps with VA claims at no cost, in Cuyahoga, Lake, and Lorain counties. We provide a written statement of care hours and costs for the application.
