Local care

Care that knows Vermilion.

Solura Home Care provides non-medical in-home care and rides to appointments in Vermilion, Ohio, with one consistent caregiver for each family.

Vermilion is a Lake Erie harbor town that straddles Lorain and Erie counties, with a historic Harbor Town district of captains' homes and the Vermilion Lighthouse. Nearly one in four residents is 65 or older.

We help older residents stay in their homes by the lake with a familiar caregiver, and drive to appointments in Lorain, Elyria, and beyond.

Local questions

What Vermilion families ask.

Do you serve the Erie County side of Vermilion too?
Yes, we serve all of Vermilion on both sides of the county line. For county senior programs, residents on the Erie County side can call Serving Our Seniors at 1-800-564-1856, and those on the Lorain County side the Lorain County Office on Aging at (440) 326-4800. Vermilion has no hospital of its own; the closest are Mercy Health Lorain Hospital and Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky.
Can you help after a stay at Mercy Health Lorain?
Yes. Care can start with more hours in the first weeks home, helping with meals, bathing, and moving around safely, then taper as strength returns. We do not provide medical care, but we work alongside the nurses and therapists your family already has.
Is there a minimum number of hours?
Care starts at 5 hours a week, so a few visits for meals, bathing, or errands is a perfectly good place to begin, and the plan can grow from there.
